45-Storey Condo to Wrap The Garden District’s Favoured Irish Pub in Toronto

Downtown Toronto will soon get a brand new high-rise that is located near Toronto's LGBT village.

Alias, the stunning development of Madison Group is a 45-storey tower created in collaboration with Turner Fleischer Architects and Teeple Architects. It will be located on the site of the former neighbourhood nightclub, Club120. As it became a victim of the COVID-19 pandemic in the year 2020, it was demolished just last year.

In the span of 14 years, Club120 had been a well-loved spot to Toronto's LGBTQ community. It hosted music and comedy shows. Despite the fact that the owners had recently signed a lease for five years, the pandemic caused unsustainable conditions.

Alias will extend around McVeigh's Irish Pub. Its owner has said that the pub will not sell and will continue to operate in place.

Studio Munge has developed 475 units. In addition to 18,000 square feet for retail spaces, Alias will also have more than 7000 square feet of grade-level retail space. This will lie on the southeast corner of Church as well as Richmond St.

It’s been argued that Toronto's condos are known for common exteriors. However, Alias has upped its game and created something truly unique in the city. Madison Group's Vice-President has a perfect description of Alias - he calls it a “blazing beacon of rock & roll attitude meets edgy sophistication,”. Certainly, the architecture deserves praise for creating something so unique.

The exterior featured gold window frames on black bricks and metallic finishes. As part of its Section 37 contribution, Madison Group is developing an open public space that will certainly bring life to the neighbourhood.

Residents of Alias will certainly know the best place to go if they want to enjoy a pint.
