How to Enter DNS Records

DNS providers use slightly different labels, but every record still has a type, a host or name, and a destination or value.

Where to find it: Admin → Settings → Domain and your domain provider’s DNS screen

What to do

  1. Match the record Type shown by Red Bricks OS.
  2. Put the displayed Name into the provider’s Host or Name field. A root record may be represented by @ or a blank field.
  3. Put the displayed Value into the provider’s Value, Data, Points to, or Target field.
  4. Leave priority empty unless the on-screen instructions give one.
  5. Use the default TTL when you are unsure, then save.

Good to know

  • Do not choose a provider preset unless it produces the exact record shown.
  • Some providers hide the root name or automatically append your domain; that is normal.
